The International Association of Facilitators (IAF) warmly welcomes participants and contributions to the second Oceania Conference to be held between 6th and 8th March 2013 in Adelaide, South Australia. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow with facilitators from around the globe, build your professional networks and expand your facilitation world.
The theme ‘The World of Facilitation’ reflects the rich diversity of inspiring, inclusive, connecting and holistic approaches encompassed by facilitation. As we embrace the corporate world, the business world, the virtual world, community and government worlds and the wider worlds beyond, we anticipate exploration and exquisite sharing of resources, research and ideas.
On behalf of the Oceania Regional Conference Team I welcome you to join us on a journey around the World of Facilitation. This is the perfect theme for our second Oceania Regional conference. The IAF is an international organisation with members from around the world spread across five geographic regions. We look forward to meeting many of them in our beautiful city, where we will be holding the conference in the stunning grounds of the Adelaide Zoo, a newly renovated location within walking distance of the CBD, parklands, shops, cafes and cultural activities. Adelaide in March enjoys warm summer days, balmy evenings and a wonderful range of cultural activities including Womadelaide, the International Festival of Arts and the Festival Fringe. Adelaide is also home to the Kaurna people, the original Aboriginal inhabitants.

Exploring the Conference Themes
The theme of the conference is about both exploring the world of facilitation and how facilitation can help us bring different worlds togetherThe conference will provide opportunities to step into another’s world and to explore the role of facilitation in a range of environments and contexts.
We will be releasing the full conference program in September and it will provide opportunities for delegates to explore:
- How does facilitation operate differently in different worlds?
- As facilitators, how do we make our work relevant to a multitude of worlds?
- How can facilitation bring divergent worlds together?.
- How can facilitation contribute to a better world?
